Battle of the 21′s
Arriving today from Carl Zeiss is the 21mm Distagon (Nikon F-Mount) and the 21mm Biogon (Leica ZM-Mount). I will have the two lenses for almost 4 weeks, and plan to pit the Biogon 21mm against my Voigtländer 21mm (Leica M-Mount) using my Sony NEX – and compare the Distagon 21mm on my Nikon D700 with the Distagon 18mm and 35mm lenses. Any other requests, send them in.

January 15, 2013this is going to be a fascinating comparison – Voigtländer maybe a giant killer and the Zeiss 21mm Distagon Nikon F-Mount is certainly a giant – anxious for results

January 16, 2013I’ll do your special case too – the massive Distagon adapted to the NEX for a direct compare to the Biogon. I am anxious to play!

January 16, 2013this maybe the coolest thing in the universe – you can always chase down the specs, but what you can’t find is an artistic assessment and comparison of these great lenses – this is going to cost me some cash, but “I’m all in”

January 17, 2013Awesome. I hope I can get out over the next few days to start some comparisons.

January 27, 2013Ray, what’s your take/first impression on the Apo Sonar 135/f2? I know it’s not out yet, but curious what your initial thoughts are. Do you plan on testing it?

January 28, 2013I have a feeling it will rival the 2/100. I do plan to test it, though I am not much of a zoom shooter (100 is about my limit). It may be a real nice street lens for sniping people at a distance. Bet it’ll be razor sharp.
